The Srikakulam District came into existence in 1950.
It is bounded on the North and West by Orissa State,East by Bay of Bengal and South by Vizianagaram District.
The district has a coast line of 193 kms.,and has vast marine potential. Arasavalli is famous for abode of Lord Surya (Sun-God), which is in the Municipal limits of Srikakulam.The only temple in AP with the second incornation of Lord Vishnu is in Srikurmam village which is 15 kms. from Srikakulam.
